CPDP.ai is part of the wider Computers, Privacy and Data Protection conference series, bringing together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and civil society to discuss pressing issues in privacy and digital governance. The panel “AI Vulnerability and Dependency on Social Media” was co-organised by RESOCIAL Project and VULNERA at CPDP.ai 2025 in Brussels.
What the panel covered
Social media platforms can create structural dependency and foster digital addiction, amplifying existing vulnerabilities, especially in AI-driven, highly personalised environments. The panel explored what this means for individual autonomy and whether current legal and policy tools are adequate to address these harms.
